Description Chris Hardy [MSFT] 2014-10-30 11:52:26 UTC
The issue is as follows, when adding in multiple icons, such as a 60pt icon for the iPhone, Xcode shows this as
"size" : "60x60",
"idiom" : "iphone",
"filename" : "Icon-60@2x.png",
"scale" : "2x"
"size" : "60x60",
"idiom" : "iphone",
"filename" : "Icon-60@3x.png",
"scale" : "3x"

When doing this through XS we are incorrectly changing the "size" property to match the size of the new image and this ends up being wrong like the following:

"filename": "Icon-60@2x.png",
"size": "120x120",
"scale": "2x",
"idiom": "iphone"
"filename": "Icon-60@3x.png",
"size": "180x180",
"scale": "3x",
"idiom": "iphone"

Fixed in git master. I'll propose the fix for 5.5.4. Thanks for tracking this down!

I have checked this issue with unified and classic app, it has been fixed.
To check this issue, I have added imagesappIcon.appiconset. Save it and open Contents.json file to compare its size with Xcode. Size is displaying correctly in XS and Xcode.
