I have problems building a quite simple project. I have android SDK v21 installed
C:\Users\olefa_000\Documents\XamChat\XamChat.Droid\Properties\AndroidManifest.xml: Warning XA4211: AndroidManifest.xml //uses-sdk/@android:targetSdkVersion '14' is less than $(TargetFrameworkVersion) 'v4.5'. Using API-L for ACW compilation. (XA4211) (XamChat.Droid)
C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Xamarin\Android\Xamarin.Android.Common.targets(2,2): Error: Could not find android.jar for API Level 21. This means the Android SDK platform for API Level 21 is not installed. Either install it in the Android SDK Manager (Tools > Open Android SDK Manager...), or change your Xamarin.Android project to target an API version that is installed. (C:\Users\olefa_000\AppData\Local\Android\android-sdk\platforms\android-L\android.jar missing.) (XamChat.Droid)

We don't support API Level "21" yet. We only support API Level "L" (preview), which is platforms/android-L directory. And you need Xamarin.Android 4.99 which is only in alpha channel.
So if you have installed API Level 21 by yourself, it's not what we support and you also have to recover API "L preview" manually. While you can do it by downloading the corresponding archive from Google and extract it under Android SDK directory, we don't support that. Renaming android-21 to android-L so far is one possible trick to get things "partially" working, but since L preview and 21 are quite different, you will hit some JNI signature mismatch that causes crash.
If you actually have valid installation for "L preview" and still reproduces the issue, please reopen.
We will be eventually publishing new alpha that supports API Level "21" in rational timely manner.
OK. I used ICS Android application template. This works for me so far
