When/if you ever get this error, can you please expand the 'Details' view so we can actually see what has gone wrong. Can you also attach the MonoDevelop.log file found in ~/Library/Logs/MonoDevelop-2.8/MonoDevelop.log from the session where MonoDevelop crashed.

If you can't reproduce this issue to obtain that information, this bug should just be closed because there is not enough info to diagnose the problem.

Can you move the directory ~/Library/Caches/MonoDevelop-2.8 to ~/Library/Caches/MonoDevelop-2.8_backup while MonoDevelop is not running and then see if it will update correctly the next time you check for updates.

If this does work correctly, I will need to grab a couple of files from the original directory, so please find me on IRC and i'll figure out which ones I need that way.

Today, We have checked this issue with following builds:

XS 4.0.8(build 2)
All Mac
Mono 2.10.12
MFA 4.7.07004

Xamarin studio is launching successfully, without throwing any exception. Hence marking this as Verified fixed.
