Description Greg Stevenson 2014-10-09 05:00:25 UTC
Since upgrading to, when right clicking an iOS project, choose 'Properties', and clicking 'iOS Application' I get an error.

This forum thread has also been posted with a few others encountering the same issue, including a screenshot: http://forums.xamarin.com/discussion/25514/unable-to-view-the-info-plist-after-updating-the-visual-studio-for-xamarin

According to @GuidoKirsten, creating a new project doesn't seem to suffer from the same problem so I'm unable to attach a sample project with repro steps.

I'm not entirely sure what has changed in my project, but the error was originally the same as the OP of that thread, but I've also had "Illegal characters in path" reported in that same window.

I have checked this issue but I am not able to reproduce this, I have followed these steps:
1. Create a iOS application with XVS 3.7.201
2. Build it successfully
3. Update XVS to 3.7.203 (Tools->option->Xamarin->iOS setting->click to check now)
4. Open the application and its Build successfully.

If you have a chance, it might also be helpful to include build information and logs.

You can get build information and logs from here:

Build Information : VS => Help => About Microsoft Visual Studio => Copy Info

IDE logs: VS => Help => Zip Xamarin Logs.

Hi Greg,

This bug actually is the same reported here:

We have a fix already implemented in our dev branch.

The error is only present on iOS projects with references to Shared projects (I guess that's your case).

I'm closing the bug as dup of 23743, which already has a fix on its way, but please reopen it if you have a different scenario and we'll investigate further.
