Description Fernando 2014-09-16 07:42:31 UTC
I have a Xamarin solution that contains a iOS binding project. It was working fine until I updated Xamarin (and components) to last Beta version 5.4 build 216.

The error I get is:
/Users/fernandop/GitLocalV2/icatalogapp/xn/iCatalogXn.Binding.iOS/obj/iPhoneSimulator/DebugUSADev/ios/iCatalogXn.Binding.iOS/BindingMainTabBarControllerScreensHandler.g.cs(19,19): Error CS0527: Type `MonoTouch.UIKit.UIPopoverControllerDelegate' in interface list is not an interface (CS0527) (iCatalogXn.Binding.iOS)

this is the line where it fails (code generated by the compiler)

namespace iCatalogXn.Binding.iOS {
	[Protocol (Name = "BindingMainTabBarControllerScreensHandler", WrapperType = typeof (BindingMainTabBarControllerScreensHandlerWrapper))]
	public interface IBindingMainTabBarControllerScreensHandler : INativeObject, IDisposable,

This is my code in ApiDefinition.cs:

[Model, BaseType (typeof (UIPopoverControllerDelegate))]
	public partial interface BindingMainTabBarControllerScreensHandler {

Note: it works fine in version 5.2 build 384

this is the current version with the issue, please advise:

I have checked this issue and I am able to reproduce this issue with following builds:

Screencast: http://www.screencast.com/t/ofzT3uGEsFQ

To verify this issue I have checked this issue with following builds:

Mac OS X 10.9.5
Xamarin Studio: 5.5 (build 200)
Xamarin.iOS: (Business Edition)
Xcode 6.0.1 (6528)
=== Build Information ===
Release ID: 505000200
Git revision: 94e0df1b22f30d11dcd3e315c0a8263832b1c61a
Build date: 2014-09-19 11:52:29-04
Xamarin addins: 86dc064f2e64d7f4f4ed05edef3019f6b239a7be

I have created a binding project and write the following code in ApiDefinition.cs file:

[Model, BaseType (typeof (UIPopoverControllerDelegate))]
    public partial interface BindingMainTabBarControllerScreensHandler {

I have added the reference of the binding project to the iOS project and I observed that I am not getting any build error when I try to build the application and application is deploy successfully.

Screencast: http://www.screencast.com/t/E1c4n0IU

This issue has been fixed. Hence, I am closing this issue.

Do you know when Xamarin.iOS: will be deployed to beta channel? Thanks.
Comment 5 Rolf Bjarne Kvinge [MSFT] 2014-10-01 03:38:44 UTC
@Fernando, you can use the current version in the beta channel (, the difference in those two versions is not related to this bug.
Comment 6 Fernando 2014-10-01 04:42:44 UTC
Good. Thanks
