Description Imgen Tata 2014-09-12 07:12:43 UTC
Description of Problem:
For the demo project on
Xamarin Studio can open, but Visual Studio cannot open the project

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open the said project with Visual Studio, there will be an unsupported project error
2. Open the said project with Xamarin Studio, then it can be opened successfully

Actual Results:
Xamarin Studio can open, but not with Visual Studio

Expected Results:
Both Xamarin Studio and Visual Studio should be able to open the same project

How often does this happen?

I have checked this sample with:
VS 2013
Windows 8
XVS 3.5.58

We are also getting this issue, sample is not loaded in VS. However with XS its loads successfully.

Hence marking this as Confirmed.

Marking the bug as resolved.
@Atin, can you please verify with latest C9 bits?

Comment 7 Jose Gallardo 2017-01-05 19:53:53 UTC
The issue seems to still be there (it will mostly be in the sample itself but we need to investigate).
Moving to `Future Cycle` for planning.

Thanks for taking the time to file this report, @Imgen! :) The project type Guids it is attempting to load are:

- Mono for Android
- C#
- Some unknown third Guid.

Once this third Guid is removed, the project loads and builds successfully in Visual Studio 15.3 Preview 3. I'm not sure how this project ended up with an invalid project type Guid, but as of the latest release of Visual Studio for Mac (Xamarin Studio) the project type does not load either:
