User experiencing an "file not found" issue when trying to "Add Web Reference" to a locally stored .wsdl / .xml file using syntax where the path to the proxy contains a space

file:////Users/abhatia/Downloads/folder with space/RxNormDBService.xml

Original Text:

If I add a web reference to a project, the name of the directory where the proxy is stored, should be configurable (now fixed to 'Web References'), since file names with white spaces can cause problems.

MonoDevelop: 2.8.1
Runtime: Mono 2.10.2 (tarball Wed May 18 18:57:01 UTC 2011)
Operating System: Linux (Unix
Distributor: Xamarin

I'm afraid you misunderstood me.
My problem is not a white space in the Webservice-URL, but the white space in the output folder, where the proxy class is stored ('Web References').

Thanks so much for taking the time to submit this report! I attempted to reproduce this issue based on the bug description with the latest Visual Studio 2017 for Mac Preview version 7.2, and I was unable to hit the problem. If this issue is still occurring for you, please reopen this report and attach a reproduction, ideally starting with a new template project and then adding just the code necessary to demonstrate the issue.
