When running the MonoDevelop unit tests on Ubuntu 14.04, there is one test that fails consistently:
MonoDevelop.Projects.LocalCopyTests.LocalCopyDefault (see http://monojenkins.cloudapp.net/job/MonoDevelop/130/testReport/MonoDevelop.Projects/LocalCopyTests/LocalCopyDefault/)
> Expected string length 4108 but was 4185. Strings differ at index 2798.
> Expected: ".../msbuild/2003:Private>True</></><http://schemas.microsoft...."
> But was: ".../msbuild/2003:Private>True</><http://schemas.microsoft.com..."
This one fails only sometimes: Mono.TextEditor.Tests.HtmlWriterTests.TestXml (see http://monojenkins.cloudapp.net/job/MonoDevelop/130/testReport/Mono.TextEditor.Tests/HtmlWriterTests/TestXml/)
> Expected string length 1040 but was 788. Strings differ at index 648.
> Expected: "...SPAN><BR>\n<SPAN style='color:#204987;'> &..."
> But was: "...SPAN><BR>\n<SPAN style='color:#000000;'> &..."
It turns out that the LocalCopyDefault test is fixed by upgrading gtksharp to the latest HEAD of the gtk-sharp-2.12-branch.
The TestXml test was fixed in https://github.com/mono/monodevelop/commit/406a07ac466b8a09810046c0d0fe3bd667acf9b5
Turns out that for the LocalCopyDefault test to work, gtksharp must be loaded from the GAC and not a package, see https://github.com/mono/monodevelop/pull/642.
