Writing sample for iOS 8.0 I found out that iPad launch images have incorrect size:
Default-Landscape@2x~ipad should be 2048x1536 but it's 2048x1496
Default-Landscape~ipad should be 1024x768 but it's 1024x748
Default-Portrait@2x~ipad should be 1536x2048 but it's 1536x2008
Default-Portrait~ipad should be 1536x2048 but it's 1536x2008
Version 5.1 (build 462)
Mono 3.6.0 ((no/f6ef3e7)
What you want to do is enable the checkbox that says "Status Var Visibility: Hide during application launch"
Since iOS 7.0 the iPad launch images must *always* have the ful screen sizes given by Oleg above, regardless of the status bar visibility checkbox. This is because since iOS 7.0 the status bar is translucent and therefore the entire image is needed to blend with the system status bar.
Hence, this is *still a bug* and is not fixed in Xamarin Studio with Xamarin.iOS 8.2.
