I have been passing this one back and forth with Jon Goldberger on Desk Case 70857. My application was working, but when I mistakenly changed the linker setting to "Link Framework SDK's Only" or "Link All" my application threw an exception the first time it tried to access a setting from the .config file. Resetting it back to "Don't Link" fixed the problem, but the application, which is meant to be downloaded from a web site, is very much larger.
For testing purposes, this is not an issue, but we would like to go live and make this available to client's within the next few weeks. The size is not a show-stopper, but it would be nice to get it fixed.
Sorry for the long delay in response. Since you are referencing .config files, are you using System.Configuration? In general, we know those don't play nicely with linking. You can work around this by passing --linkskip=System.Configuration (or whatever assembly in particular is causing issues as Additional mmp arguments in the Mac Build section of the project preferences.
