The Activity Indicator View's property Hide When Stopped is checked in the designer by default but is false when the app runs.
I have tried to reproduce this issue with X for windows 2.0.92. Activity Indicator views's property "Hide When Stopped" is unchecked by default as shown in screencast : http://screencast.com/t/W60NpR1dR

You are correct.
The bug is that if you check "Hide When Stopped" the property on the Activity Indicator View will be false when the app runs.
Fixed in master. Will be part of the next bugfix release.
