Description Alek Slater 2014-03-05 02:42:54 UTC
One of my favourite features of IDEs like Eclipse or Android Studio (in Eclipse's case, the only good feature) is how folders automatically keep in sync with the project. Android Studio in particular does a fantastic job with this, in that you can move files around using the file system navigator (Finder), add images, rename them, add source files, remove them etc. When you get back to the IDE after such activity, the project seamlessly updates itself, and the changes you made are reflected, without having to manually drag and drop files in, or right click to add files / folders etc.

I think it would be an amazing addition if you could add a folder mode to a folder in a project tree, so that you could let Xamarin Studio know that this particular folder is a file-system backed folder or a file-system mirroring folder.

(If you could allow this but still retain the ability to add linked files / folders, inside one of these tracked folders, you would be one-upping Eclipse/Android Studio).

This is a better place for suggesting new features:

Thanks!

Might be an idea to make that a bit more visible then, I've never heard of this before.
Perhaps a link to it in the Xamarin Studio below Report a Bug in the Help menu?

Will add it to the product suggestions page too now.
