Might have the same underlying cause as bug #17234?
## Steps to reproduce
1. Create a new project of any kind.
2. Add a "Xamarin.Mac Project" or "Xamarin.Mac Library Project" to the solution.
The "References" for the newly added project includes "XamMac", but the reference is red, and has an error message:
> Assembly not found for framework Mono / .NET 4.0
Close and reopen the solution. The "XamMac" reference will now be black, and the compiler will find it successfully.

Seeing the same thing here, with the latest version of Xamarin Studio (5.1 build 479).
Steps to reproduce, and workaround, are exactly as described above. I'm running Mac OS X 10.8.5.
While there is a workaround, once you find it, it's not at all obvious.
I believe these are duplicates:
But don't want to close them until we have a fix for this and can test those specific test cases.

Fixed in master / 537789c3387da468a5fed98e3bb177dcdd676622
This will be in the XS 6.0 release later this year.
