Description Timo Dörr 2011-08-04 03:59:12 UTC
with custom makefiles (not generated ones), the status bar in MD says "Updating
Project" forever after triggering a build of the custom makefile project. Additionally, this affects the cleaning process as subsequent projects are not correctly cleaned out.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create a new MD Solution, i.e. the default "Hello World" console project
2. Right click solution -> add new Project -> C# Library
3. Double click newly added library project and enable Makefile integration
4. In the dialog, do not click generate Makefile but use custom one
5. Use a very basic Makefile like this:

all: clean build
    @echo clean
    @echo build

6. Build the project or solution

What happens: The status bar says "updating project" without the progress
indicator bar moving and stays on "updateting projects" until next build.

What should happen: The project should be updated (?) and status bar say "build
complete / successful"

Can you attach a project which can be used to reproduce the problem? thanks!

Very basic sample project to hit the bug

Basic project to hit the bug. Extract and load the solution, then perform a "rebuild all". On my opensuse 11.4 box using official mono repo from mono-project, MD 2.6b3 lcoks the status bar to "Updating Project" without changing. The build target in the Makefile are sometimes not executed correctly.

I could not reproduce on trunk given the test solution. I also could not reproduce on 2.6b3 though.

This sounds like it has been fixed in newer versions of monodevelop as I cannot reproduce it with MonoDevelop 2.8.2 with the supplied testcase.
