When opening palm files with MonoDevelop it causes a total system crash, resulting in needing to reboot the system. It is a nasty nasty bug. Sure it is not likely that you would want to open a palm file... but try it out and see what happens and you will see what I mean. An attacker could connect to a remote system, execute a palm file with MonoDevelop and cause the system to need to be rebooted in order to pursue other attacks. It would be a good idea I believe to fix this buy on that basis alone.

Cheers,

This is a bug in your linux distro. Usermode apps should not be able to crash the system.
