When attempting to deploy a Xamarin.Android project to a Galaxy S4 :Model SCH-I545 Running Android: 4.3, the device is not listed to deploy to on neither Visual Studio 2012 nor Xamarin Studio.
The user has properly installed the necessary drivers from Samsung, as well as using the original USB cable to connect to the Windows 8.1 workstation. They have also installed the Google USB available from the Android SDK Manager.
However, when they selected "android_winusb.inf", the error "The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. if the folder contains a driver make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64 based systems." appeared.
And the device does not appear when running the adb commands.
The customer needs to use the Samsung USB driver, not the Google USB driver. The Google USB driver is only suitable for use with Pure Google devices, e.g. the Nexus devices.
