Updated Visual Studio. VS 2010, 10.0.40219.1 SP1Rel. .Net V 4.5.50938 SP1Rel. Win 7 Pro.
Now can no longer deploy from Xamarin.
Switched from beta to stable channel and updated Xamarin but same problem. Version 4.0.13 (build 38).
Get stuck for at least 10 minutes when trying to run in either Release or Debug then get stuck here:

My mistake ... what I installed was:
VS ultimate 2013
Version 12.0.21005.1 REL
Same .NET version.
Odd that older VS 10 is still there and can be opened.

Also, deployment has been running for 1 hour now. Still shows "Installing application on device" but the progress bar is slowly progressing and now near 85%. This is the second device I've tried, both Samsung (Galaxy tab II 10" and Galaxy Note)

oh boy, adb install seems to hang too.

opened adt eclipse and made new simple android project. Shows:
This version of the rendering library is more recent than your version of ADT plug-in. Please update ADT plug-in
Eclipse->Update. nothing found.
Android AVD update: updates made to "Android SDK Tools" and Android SDK Platform-tools".
Reopened eclipse and check for updates but
This version of the rendering library is more recent than your version of ADT plug-in. Please update ADT plug-in
So manually updated android stuff from android update site (new software menu option in eclipse) but that failed with:
An error occurred while collecting items to be installed
session context was:(profile=profile, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Collect, operand=, action=).

bug with Google's Android ADB. Killed adb.exe and restarted and working now.
Comment 7 Mikayla Hutchinson [MSFT] 2013-11-05 14:27:02 UTC
Yep, adb is notoriously unreliable. We've been investigating ways to cut it out of the pipeline, but that won't happen any time soon, unfortunately.
