It would be really great to be able to use xbuild for iOS. Trying to do anything beyond simple build things with 'mdtool build' seems to be cumbersome and more difficult than xbuild. Custom build steps that aren't tied to a particle build configuration or being able to easily use conditions in the csproj file. Also, a .NET standard way to build things from the console (thinking CI like jenkins).

Plus xbuild is cooler because it starts with an 'x'... for extreme? building? :)

Closing. That now exists for iOS8 features and unified API.
