Test project

I cannot find how to generate async (actually task-based) proxy. Async methods are generating xxxCompleted functions which I cannot await on.
Your post http://docs.xamarin.com/guides/cross-platform/application_fundamentals/web_services/wcf_basic_walkthrough
also using these xxxCompleted functions.
Can you please provide the method to generate and use awaitable clients?
I generated Windows WCF client but now I am getting an error with async request.
Attached sample projects.

Xamarin.Android and Xamarin.iOS require that you to use SLsvcUtil.exe to generate the proxies and not the SvcUtil.exe that you would use for a desktop or webapp client.

SLsvcUtil.exe hasn't not been updated by Microsoft to create the Async/Await compatible methods and will not generate code that is async/await compatible.
