Description Ralph 2013-08-22 05:58:46 UTC

there is a bug in the Visual Studio plugin. I can't deactivate the iOS update notifier, after restart of Visual Studio the box is checked again. Its pretty annoying because i can't install the update as well, because I have no licence for iOS.

@Ralph, which Visual Studio are you seeing this in, VS2010 or VS2012?
Comment 2 Ralph 2013-08-22 06:09:48 UTC
I'm using VS2010.

Unchecking the box in the update notify dialog does not work and also the checkbox in the preferences under "Xamarin/iOS Settings" does not work.

@Raplh I've just tested this in both VS2010 and VS2012 and once the iOS flag
was unchecked I never saw the update dialog again for iOS. I was unchecking it in
Tools->Options->Xamarin->iOS and also the Updater dialog itself and they stayed unchecked in both cases.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Updater dialog shows updates for both addins if they are installed on your machine, which from the above post looks like you have. If you really don't want to see any iOS updates, then go to the control panel and uninstall the Xamarin.iOS add-in completely. From that point on, you will not see any Xamarin.iOS updates in the updater dialog.

I tried both cases as you described, but the Updater dialog appears every time.

Uninstalling Xamarin.iOS brings up a new problem. I can't open my existing Xamarin.Android Projects. Visual Studio says that this kind of project type is not supported :-/. I only uninstalled the Xamarin.iOS part.

So i reinstalled Xamarin.iOS via the installer. Everything is working again and I now have the up to date iOS version, so the Updater dialog does not appear anymore. And the best thing is, that the notify checkbox under Tools->Options->Xamarin->iOS is also working right now. Crazy things happen nowadays :-)

Thanks for your support!! You can close this one I think!
