screenshot of the 2 problems

Since the upgrade to 4.0.12 on the stable release, was not able to add files or folders to the solution. We moved to the alpha channel (4.1.9 build6) and this works.

However, for a number of different operations we get complaints about the solution:

"Save failed, a name did not start with a legal character 32 () Line 1, position 108"

Looking at our solution do not see any plausible issue (and this solution loaded fine in a prior version).

Secondly, we cannot add an existing project to the solution. We get an NGit exception (even though we are not using git as our source control, rather SVN).

Have attached an image of the exception windows, the Xamarin Studio ide log, and the solution file.

I should note that this solution loads file in visual studio 2011. Also can add the project there. The resulting solution can be read by Xamarin Studio. We use macs though, so would prefer to do these operations in Xamarin Studio.

The error seems to be in writing the project file. Could you attach that?
Comment 5 Jonathan Shore 2013-08-14 17:10:11 UTC
Not sure if that is the case. Any operation that would affect the .sln gives that message (it is not fatal). For example, if I go to a random App in the solution and "Set As Startup Project", will give that error.

I know that the startup project is kept in the solution file.

In any case, my colleague will post the project file for the project he was trying to add.

The NGit exception error (you'll see in the log) is separate. I believe this NGit error is the one preventing the addition of the project to the solution. Not sure.

project file

project file as you requested.

I'm not sure that's the right project to reproduce this issue.

It's trying to save a project, and trying to write invalid XML into a property. It looks like a dup of https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17
