The file listing with symbolic link

When running Xamarin Studio 4.0.12 on Windows 8, I am unable to open files stored on mounted remote filesystems.

Steps to reproduce:
1. In an explorer window, navigate to a mounted remote drive with a .csproj file
2. Double-click the .csproj file
3. Observe "File not found:" error dialog

Alternate steps to reproduce:
1. Click the "File" menu, then select and click "Open"
2. Note how the "File to open" dialog only lists local drives

Additional attempts:
1. Create a symlink with the CreateSymbolicLink call via Administrative console with Python and pywin32
2. Verify symlink creation:

Volume in drive C is Windows8_OS
 Volume Serial Number is 8ECE-0020

               3 Dir(s) 193,674,108,928 bytes free

3. Try to navigate to the zdrive in Xamarin Studio and see a blue listing (see the two screenshots)

Mounted drive navigation
Comment 2 josiah.carlson 2013-08-14 13:52:22 UTC
I changed the subject back to mounted drive navigation, because the fundamental problem is mounted drive navigation.

When creating a symlink to a path on a physical device (and not to a remotely mounted FS), Xamarin Studio navigates properly.

I included the symlink information to show that the problem can be observed in at least 3 situations to allow for easier verification of fixes.
