Copy & paste from Designer > Source loses end-of-line breaks
When I copied out a piece of text from Android layout in Designer > Source tab into Notepad, there were no end-of-line breaks. Note: the XAML file has Windows end-of-line sequence CrLf. I keep all my source with CrLf, even if they are originally created with Lf breaks because of the template.
This is a new bug, it didn't happen with older versions of Xamarin in VS 2010.
Currently I use Xamarin for Android 4.8.13 in VS 2012. See screenshot.
In fact, I believe that the selected text is copied out with Lf breaks only, even if the original XAML file did have CrLf breaks.
If you copy the same text back to designer from the Notepad, it shows end-of-line breaks.
Thanks so much for taking the time to submit this report @Ales! I can confirm I am no longer able to reproduce this issue using the latest Visual Studio 15.3 preview builds. Copying out to a text editor like Visual Studio Code maintains line breaks and formatting as expected.
Marking this report as RESOLVED.
