To keep with the Mac OS X standard UI conventions and for the sake of simplicity (see e.g. Finder.app), it seems superfluous that the text "Press 'Cmd.' to search.' appears in the search box in the top-right (when it is not-selected). The shortcut can be easily figured out via the Search menu in any case, so it doesn't make any sense to clutter the top bar.
Xamarin Studio v4.0.9 build 9
Was part of our new design - @david: what do you think ?
The UI looks cleaner without the text IMO - but it's not really distracting me.
Sounds good to me.
We have checked and now no text is shown in searchbox.
Version 4.2.3 (build 127)

There's been a regression of this issue!
It was a design issue to show that again.
