Talked to Mhutch, he'd rather keep it enabled but catch the known failure cases and warn the user about turning off the setting.

What I actually suggested was that if there's a a missing targets error, and the "use xbuild" option is enabled, we should add a warning suggesting turning the option off.
Since Unified uses xbuild directly, this only affects older Classic projects. I don't see this being on the roadmap, as most new projects will be using xbuild and most classic projects won't be flipping random settings.
