Description Rodrigo Kumpera 2013-06-07 11:50:36 UTC
If I open a file multiple times, edit it and save, XS will ask how to convert the line endings every time.

Every single time.

This is incredibly annoying.

There is no selection for 'mixed' line endings.

You need to choose a line ending & try to keep them consistent. That we're a bit annoying there is on purpose - mixed line endings are something that should be avoided.

I did not explain the issue properly.

I'm editing a project on OSX that was originally written on Windows.

I have no desire to switch line ending, but Xamarin Studio keeps bothering me about it
every single time I reopen the file.

It doesn't remember my option from 10 seconds ago. This makes for a horrible experience for
someone that just want to edit a bunch of files and preserve the current line endings.

Been annoying on purpose is not an excuse to offer bad user experience. Studio should, the very least, remember all my picks from the current session.

It does - we have a pick for line endings called "Native". But that wasn't my decision to do.

It makes sense to have line end checks - but "native" only works in git when checking out with native line endings. If it's a good default or not is questionable but it's not a bug - it was a decision.

Ask mhutch or miguel about it.

btw. one thing that's bad with that is that we can't switch that easily now without breaking things.
