Description Matt Cuda 2013-05-09 09:48:13 UTC
Here are the steps which seem to lead to the random problem. Looks like there was a similar issue out there on Bug 10968

1. Open designer
2. Open a view controller
3. Type (Option + F)
4. Perform a search
5. Leave the search window open

Now at random times, the text in the search window or other text on the clipboard will be inserted in random sections of the view controller code window. The user does not know this has happened, but when he goes to compile, the app will not compile because of all the syntax errors resulting from the automated pasting.

I assume it's something with the ios designer ? I can't repro anything like that with just a plain editor.

Is this the iOS designer or Xcode? Could you screencast it so we can follow your repro steps more closely?

Screenshot showing wicked pasting bug

I simply copied two methods from one view controller and pasted them into another. Went to compile and it had pasted another copy way up the controller.

I think it is taking the caret position of the other view controller and pasting it in the new view controller, but have not confirmed this.

It is too random to screencast.
Comment 5 Matt Cuda 2013-08-05 13:20:39 UTC
This problem remains in the latest alpha build.

This bug cannot be unique to the iOS designer because we don't do anything with cs files. We only interact with .storyboard files. If you feel the issue is actually something we're doing wrong, could you please take a look at the ios addin and figure out what the issue is. It is beyond our area of expertise.

Should work in recent versions.
