Under certain circumstances, when editing the designer XML manually, and then switching back to the WYSIWYG designer, the XML changes are lost.
Stuart Lodge demonstrated this to me at Evolve using VS2012.
Steps that I remember to reproduce this error are...
Open layout form
Switch to Source, manually create a Button and set its properties(don't save)
Switch back to the designer tab, the button should be displayed.
Switch back to the source tab, and the button code is no longer visible.
I will add Stuart to this bug report, so he can correct any steps/information I may have missed out.
Stuaart has down a a YouTube video showing the exact steps and scenario...
Fixed in bs1.
