I've installed the beta version of mono (3.0.9) for OS X (10.8) from the mono downloads page. When I executed vbnc, I received the following error:
Cannot open assembly '/Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Versions/3.0.8/lib/mono/4.0/vbnc.exe': No such file or directory.
As I'd expect, when I looked in the Versions directory I found only 3.0.9, not 3.0.8:
$ ls /Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Versions/
I created a symlink from 3.0.8 -> 3.0.9, after which vbnc worked:
$ cd /Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Versions/
$ sudo ln -s 3.0.9 3.0.8
$ ls -l

drwxr-xr-x 13 root admin 442 Apr 9 13:27 3.0.9
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 49 Apr 18 12:51 Current -> /Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Versions/3.0.9
