Description Mikayla Hutchinson [MSFT] 2013-04-03 16:40:44 UTC
Debugging MD in MD, on mono-2-10/fa485f3, sometimes "step into" fails apparently randomly. There is no actual assembly unload event AFAICT.

Also, when the stepping command fails, MD just prints the exception, and there is no indication in the UI that an error occurred.

Comment 1 Jeffrey Stedfast 2013-04-03 18:02:21 UTC
fixed in git master
Comment 2 Mikayla Hutchinson [MSFT] 2013-04-03 19:17:54 UTC
The error handling is fixed, but the actual ERR_UNLOAD is not.

I still get the ERR_UNLOAD on master/caf5fc0 and nothing has actually been unloaded AFAIK.
Comment 3 Jeffrey Stedfast 2013-04-03 21:37:27 UTC
oh, my mistake - I thought this was a XS-side bug and that you filed a separate runtime bug.
Comment 4 Zoltan Varga 2013-04-05 12:46:49 UTC
The only way I see this happening is that one of the assemblies passed to EventRequest.AssemblyFilter is unloaded. Does md use appdomains which are unloaded ?
Comment 5 Mikayla Hutchinson [MSFT] 2013-04-05 14:34:35 UTC
MD does use app domains that get unloaded, yes, but not at this time, and I don't see any assembly unload events reported in the debugger output.
Comment 6 Zoltan Varga 2013-04-05 14:40:40 UTC
How can I reproduce this ?
Comment 7 Mikayla Hutchinson [MSFT] 2013-04-05 15:35:19 UTC
It's somewhat intermittent so I don't have a reliable repro, but it happens quite frequently when stepping in MonoDevelop.Ide.
