An update to above issue:
It seems that this application is only for devices with iOS 6.0 or above, as it is working file with iPhone iOS 6.0.1 and iPod iOS 6.0
The bug must have to do with invalid automatic selection of the iOS simulator by VS.
An update t the above issue:
This sample application is working fine on the device as well as on simulator with iOS 6.0 or above.
However, with the simulator with iOS 5.1 it does not even show the option "iPhone Simulator 5.1" in the drop down and this is happening with both VS and XS.
So it seems that this issue is iOS specific, it is happening only with devices/simulators with iOS 5.1
PJ please look into it and let us know if this sample application is meant to work only on the devices/simulators with iOS 6.0 or above and we can close this bug as feature.
Nischal, it seems that if the app is 6.0+ then not showing the 5.1 simulator option is the correct behavior.
We do need to be sure that the extension isn't allowing you to deploy to a device that is below the minimum iOS setting.
Is that the case?
PJ, yep, that's it. Although considering comment 3 - we ARE doing it at least on the VS side. Perhaps it's the server side that doesn't select the simulator properly.
Yeah, so not showing the iOS 5 simulators may not be enough, they're still able to start a deploy to an iOS 5 device and just have it crash (even with minimum OS set to 6.0).
They should be stopped by the extension.
Nischal, or perhaps Atin, regression status?
We have checked this issue using MTVS 1.0.897 for same application and we are getting proper error message:
"MT1006:Could not install the application '/Users/nischal/Library/Caches/Xamarin/mtbs/builds/PinchIt/8d0c79d1-6a71-4e88-8330-96eb48578b7e/output/Debug/iPhone/PinchIt.app' on the device: The 'MinimumOSVersion' inside Info.plist does not include the device version (error: 0xe800007e)".
Confirmed as a regression according to comment 8
Heyo so it looks like the behavior reported in comment 8 and comment 7 is wrong, according to my local testing.
I see the exact same behavior on bigsplash (1.0.897) as I do on the current test build (1.1.194).
I think I know where there might be a source of confusion however - the behavior differs between release mode and debug mode.
I've filed this as bug 11400.
As per bug 11400 changing the status of this bug to Verified
