Description Andres G. Aragoneses 2013-03-12 19:15:52 UTC
Steps to reproduce:

1) Create a folder and a symlink to the folder:

:~/$ cd Code
:~/Code$ ln -s testdir testsymlink
:~/Code$ cd testsymlink

2) Open MD, create a solution inside ~/Code/testsymlink

Current results:
New solution is created, and the file opened is ~/Code/testdir/test/test/Program.cs
(You can check this by placing the mouse cursor in the tab of the file, and you see the path)

Expected results:
New solution is created, and the file opened is ~/Code/testsymlink/test/test/Program.cs

There's a related minor symlink path normalization bug with the solutions listed on the Welcome Page.

1. Create a solution 'foo' in /tmp/baz/
2. Close it
3. $ mv /tmp/baz /tmp/bar && ln -s /tmp/bar /tmp/baz
4. $ monodevelop /tmp/bar/foo/foo.sln
5. Close the solution again

Actual results:

Two items are shown in the list of recent solutions on the Welcome Page, one for /tmp/baz/foo and one for the normalized path /tmp/bar/foo.

Expected results:

The original item is either re-used or updated with the normalized path.

Hey Matt, be careful, if you plan to fix this, it may be very easy to regress on these other related issues when trying to fix it: bug 5225, bug 27097, bug 27098.
