Description Narender Reddy 2013-02-24 06:51:45 UTC
Description of Problem: 'Change' event of the EntryElement never fires on changing text input. It only fires when the focus lost.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Create an EntryElement and bind Chang event to it.

2. Run the application and keep entering text on EntryElement, (The change event will not fire till it loses focus)

Actual Results:
Change event of EntryElement not fires on text change.

Expected Results:
Change event of EntryElement should fire on text change.

How often does this happen?
every time.

Additional Information:

I need to implement a feature to append hyphens automatically to the phone number like 123-456-7890. I badly need a text change event to achieve the above. Please fix the issue or suggest me a way to achieve my requirement.

This is for MonoTouch.Dialog, right?

Hi, Can any one please respond to my bug report?
Comment 3 Miguel de Icaza [MSFT] 2013-02-28 03:02:02 UTC
This is by design. There is a history for why this is needed in the bug history of MonoTouch.Dialog.

If you want a different behavior, you can replicate the source code from http://github.com/migueldeicaza/MonoTouch.Dialog for the EntryElement and adjust the behavior.

@Miguel De Icaza Thanks for your response, but I couldn't figure out which part of the above mentioned sample is matches with my requirement. (Or that I can replicate).

Otherwise, Can you give any example app where auto insertion of symbols is being used while entering text in EntryElement.
Comment 5 Miguel de Icaza [MSFT] 2013-03-02 12:27:04 UTC
The above is not a sample, it is the actual source code for EntryElement.

So what you need to do is cut-paste the EntryElement, rename it, make changes to the keys, and hook up to the other events you need.

Great! Many thanks for your time.

I have hooked up EditingChange event to the EntryElement and that solved my problem.
